Getting Started

Please take a moment to review the following information

Choosing a Therapist

We have many great therapists on the team to choose from. You can either reach out to whoever you feel you might connect to best, or contact Nikki and she will help you figure out which of the therapists might be a good fit for you. You can always interview with multiple therapists to decide.

consultation

Nikki Nary & Associates offers a free 20-30 minute free consultation via phone or video chat, so you can get a sense of whether we are a good match. It is important to me that you find the therapist that is the best fit for you and your needs.

rates

Fees are usually between $150-250 depending on the therapist, but please let us know if you need to discuss a sliding scale. The rate will be discussed in the initial consultation with your therapist.

Session length

Sessions are approximately 50 minutes. Family sessions or Couples therapy can be scheduled for longer. Your session will usually be at the same time every week. Some clients are seen more or less frequently depending on if additional support is needed.

Insurance

We can provide a super bill for clients to be reimbursed by their insurance provider. The majority of my clients receive some form of reimbursement from their insurance. Please call your insurance provider to determine your coverage, and we can discuss further when we speak.

Cancellation Policy

If you do not attend your scheduled appointment, and you have not notified us at least 24 hours in advance, you will be required to pay the full cost of the session. That policy is in place to protect our time and encourage consistency.

Payment

Credit Card, Venmo, and Zelle are all accepted. Checks and Cash are an option as well and we can discuss that on a case by case basis.

Telehealth

We are able to see clients via Telehealth within the state of California. Please let me know if this method of therapy might work best for you!

“What lies behind us and what lies before us are small matters compared to what lies within us. And when we bring what is within us out into the world, miracles happen.”

fees + insurance

  • Each of our therapist sets their own fee. For questions about how fees and billing work, feel free to contact us for more information.

  • Nikki Nary is in Network with Cigna and Evernorth.

  • We understand that therapy is an investment – both emotionally and financially. In order to provide you with the highest level and most comprehensive care, we are not affiliated with any particular insurance panel. This is to ensure that we are working from a clinically compassionate space, without having limitations or influence from insurance companies, which can often stipulate what type and the length of treatment clients receive.

We know it can be challenging to navigate insurance as not all plans are the same, and it’s not always clear how to make sure you’re maximizing your benefits. Here, you will find some guidelines that will hopefully make this process more transparent and less daunting.

We are considered an “out-of-network” provider for all PPO insurance plans. What this means is that you are responsible for paying the full fee upfront for each session. At the end of every month, we will provide you with an invoice (also known as a “superbill”) which you will then submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. Depending on your plan, you will usually get a percentage of what you already paid back to you, which can help offset the out-of-pocket cost of therapy.

To find out more about your network coverage, we encourage you to follow these steps:

    1. Call your insurance provider at the number listed on the back of your insurance card.

    2. Ask your provider what percentage is covered for “out-of-network” or “non-participating providers.”

    3. Ask your provider what the “maximum allowed amount” is per session (this is sometimes referred to as “reasonable and customary fees”) for zip code 90049 for a licensed marriage and family therapist. If they ask, the CPT/procedure code is 90837 for individual psychotherapy and 90847 for couples/family psychotherapy.

    4. Ask your provider if you have a deductible for an out-of-network provider and how much it is.

You are entitled to a Good Faith Estimate of your treatment costs at Nikki Nary Therapy & Associates in accordance with the No Surprises Act (Under Section 2799B-6 of the Public Health Service Act). To learn more, go to: https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises

  • We believe that mental health services should be accessible by all, which is why each of our therapist provide therapy at a reduced rate for a limited number of clients who are not able to afford our full fee. We want to empower you towards reaching your mental health goals, and are happy to help you get there.

  • You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical and mental health care will cost.

Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services.

You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy services.

You can ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service. Since we will agree upon the fee and frequency prior to working together, you will be able to anticipate the total yearly cost of sessions. However, if you’d would like me to provide this estimate for you, please ask and I would be happy to!

If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.
